Welcome to my blog, here's a new sketch by me dedicated to the Holiest Shrine of the Sikhs 'Gurudwara Darbar Sahib'. Also commonly known as 'Shri Harmandir Sahib' or 'Golden Temple'. Darbar Sahib is a Gurudwara open for all the People of all the religions around the world. The name Golden Temple became famous after it was given by the Britishers when India was under the British rule, because of the gold coating of the Gurudwara Sahib's building.

HISTORY OF GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB
Gurudwara Darbar Sahib or Harmandir Sahib is situated in North India. Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Ji is situated in Amritsar District of Punjab State which touches the India-Pakistan Border. Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Ji was built by the Fifth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Arjun Dev Ji. The construction was done from 1574 till completion in 1604. The Present Day Gurudwara Sahib Ji was built by Jassa Singh Ahluwalia in 1764. The Gold plating over the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib was done under Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji from 1802 to 1830.

ABOUT GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB
Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Ji get visitors from around the world. Hymn singing is done from early morning inside the Gurudwara Sahib. Besides the beauty and the magnificent architecture, the prime reason for the visitors to visit Gurudwara Darbar Sahib is the pleasant and Holy atmosphere. Various festivals related to Sikhism like Gurpurabs are celebrated at the Gurudwara Sahib. Langar Sewa ( Free Kitchen ) runs 24 hours everyday which provides free meals to every visitor without any discrimination. More than 40,000 people eat the meals at Gurudwara Darbar Sahib everyday.
MAKING OF THE SKETCH OF GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB
Well, it was the most time consuming sketch made by me so far in my life but i loved to do it. I know the more difficult a task is, the better is the outcome. I used to draw for 1 hour everyday and did it for around 1 week. The minute details were the difficult part. But while i draw, i felt great as this time i was drawing something that connects me to my religion. Following picture shows the steps i made in making this drawing. Thanks for reading.
